Kindle Unlimited Free Trial covers trials in the United States. A trial is free only until it renews. The price you pay next has to be on the signup page before you agree.
Cancel before the renewal if you do not want the paid plan. A trial that needs a card is still a trial, not a gift.
Questions
When does Kindle Unlimited Free Trial stop being free?
When the trial renews. The price and the cancel steps are on the company's own page. Read them before you start.
