What you get

General admission to the British Museum in London is free. You do not need a ticket for the permanent collection. Some exhibitions charge, and a donation is optional. Check opening hours on the museum site before you travel.

Eligibility

Permanent collection entry is free. Charged exhibitions, the shop, and food are not included. Opening days and bag rules are on the museum's own site.

What you pay

You pay nothing for general admission. A special exhibition ticket is a purchase.

How to claim

  1. 1

Check today's opening hours on the British Museum site.

  2. 2

Go to the museum. General admission does not need a freebie code.

  3. 3

Pay only if you choose a charged exhibition, the shop, or a donation.

Before you claim

Free means you pay nothing, or nothing beyond ordinary postage that was not inflated to hide a price. A rewards club can be free to join. A required purchase, a subscription that renews, or a draw you might not win is not a free gift. Read the cost line on each card.
